Daymark Tower
Daymark Tower

The River Dart Daymark. The daymark, is a 25m high stone heptagonal tower, built in 1864 as a navigation aid to shipping entering the river Dart. It is owned and managed by the Dart Harbour Commissioners. A daymark is used similar to a lighthouse to aid sailors but without the light, there are many disused lighthouses on our coast that are now used as daymarks to assist sailors to navigate. As the name suggests they can only be used during daylight.
